Escape the City – Discover Istanbul's Wild Black Sea Coast
Although Cilingoz is known today as one of Istanbul's most beautiful natural escapes, its history stretches back much further than the establishment of the nature park which covers approximately 17,75 hectares. The park protects a unique landscape where a sandy beach, forest, freshwater creek, lagoon and wetlands meet in one location. The area was officially declared a Wildlife Protection Area back in 2005.
Cilingoz region lies within the historic Thrace, a land inhabited by Thracian tribes for centuries before the arrival of the Greeks and Romans.
