This 5-day cultural journey combines UNESCO World Heritage Sites, magnificent Seljuk caravanserais, early Christian heritage, and the breathtaking landscapes of Cappadocia.

Starting with a short domestic flight from Istanbul, discover how Anatolia became the bridge between Europe and Asia, where civilizations exchanged silk, spices, precious stones, ideas, religions, science, and architecture.

The Silk Road was not a single road but a vast network of trade routes connecting East Asia with Europe. Anatolia became one of its most important crossroads, linking Persia, Central Asia, the Mediterranean, and the Balkans. During the Seljuk period (11th–13th centuries), rulers built fortified caravanserais approximately every 30–40 kilometers—the distance a camel caravan could travel in a day. These inns offered free lodging, food, veterinary care, and security for merchants, encouraging trade and cultural exchange. The route helped spread goods such as silk, spices, porcelain, and carpets, while also facilitating the exchange of scientific knowledge, artistic styles, languages, and religious ideas.

Day 1

Early morning, pick up from your hotel and transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to Konya, the capital of the Seljuks & Silk Road. Upon arrival, meet your professional licensed guide and start your Silk Road adventure.

Highlights of the day:

Mevlana Museum, the spiritual heart of Konya and one of Turkey's most visited museums. Learn about Jalal ad-Din Rumi, whose philosophy of peace spread across the Silk Road. We will see Rumi's mausoleum, Dervish cells, ancient manuscripts, musical instruments and Islamic calligraphy.

We continue to Alaeddin Hill. To explore the former Seljuk capital where sultans governed trade between Asia and Europe. Visit of Alaeddin Mosque, Seljuk Palace remains and enjoy a panoramic city view.

Next stop is the Karatay Medrese. A masterpiece of Seljuk architecture decorated with spectacular turquoise tiles. Learn about Islamic education, Seljuk science, astronomy and Silk Road scholars.

In the evening, traditional Konya dinner and overnight stay in Konya.

Day 2

After breakfast, we drive for Cappadocia along the ancient Silk Road, of the greatest caravanserais ever built in the Seljuk Empire.

Sultanhani Caravanserai contructed in 1229 by Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I and later enlarged, Sultanhani served as a secure overnight stop where merchants could rest, trade goods, care for animals, and exchange news from distant lands.

Highlights of Sultanhani Caravanserai:

Monumental entrance portal, merchant rooms, camel stables, mosque in the central courtyard, warehouses and defensive walls.

We continue to Cappadocia and upon arrival check in to a cave hotel.

Day 3

Optional: Hot Air Balloon Experience

After breakfast, visit of the Open-Air Museum which is under UNESCO's protection.

One of Christianity's most remarkable monastic settlements and visit also the rock-cut churches, Byzantine frescoes, monasteries, chapels and dining halls.

During the day will visit also the below sites:

Pasabag (Monks Valley) and see Cappadocia's iconic fairy chimneys.

Devrent Valley. Discover naturally sculpted rock formations resembling animals.

Avanos. Ancient pottery town on the banks of the Kizilirmak River and experience traditional pottery workshop, handmade ceramics and Silk Road handicrafts.

At the end of the tour, return to the hotel for overnight stay at a cave hotel.

Day 4

After breakfast, you will join the tour to visit Kaymakli Underground City and explore one of the largest underground settlements in the world. Discover living quarters, churches, storage rooms, kitchens, ventilation systems and wine cellars.

We will continue to Catalhoyuk which is under UNESCO's protection and one of the world's oldest known urban settlements, dating back approximately 9,000 years. The settlement demonstrates that long-distance exchange networks existed thousands of years before the Silk Road became famous.

At the end of the tour, return to Cappadocia for overnight stay at a cave hotel.

Day 5

After breakfast, will join the tour to visit Uchisar Castle, the highest point in Cappadocia with spectacular panoramic views. Will visit Pigeon Valley and walk among ancient pigeon houses carved into volcanic cliffs.

Free time for shopping opportunities: Handmade carpets, Turkish ceramics, local wines, onyx stone and traditional textiles.

Upon the end of the tour, transfer to the airport for your domestic flight back to Istanbul.
