Saint Nektarios is a revered figure across the Orthodox world, was born in Silivri in in 1846, This private tour to his birthplace also blends pilgrimage, local culture, and authentic village life along the Marmara coast.
Tour Highlights:
- Private transfer from Istanbul with a Greek/English-speaking driver/guide
- Silivri Castle (Selymbria Castle) built in Byzantine times and reinforced by the Ottomans. You can see remains of the old defensive walls and the castle ruins. The Old City and Ancient Ruins Remnants of Byzantine and Roman structures, street traces, aqueducts, and mosaic fragments, can be found in scattered locations.

Detailed Itinerary:
08:30 am – Departure from Istanbul
Pick-up from your hotel in Istanbul and private transfer in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach. Scenic drive along the Marmara Sea coast (approx. 1–1.5 hours, depending on traffic).
10:00 am - Arrival in Silivri and start our tour with a visit of the Kale Park / historical zone area connected with Saint Nektarios’ early life. Guided information about his childhood in Silivri, his later years as a monk, preacher, and bishop, and his enduring spiritual influence throughout the Orthodox world.
11:30 am Walking Tour of Silivri
Leisurely walk through the seaside town, explore narrow streets, simple local shops, and the waterfront promenade . Time for photos of the coastal scenery and town atmosphere.
14:00 pm Lunch at a Local Restaurant
Enjoy a traditional meal in a local, family-style restaurant. Fresh, home-style dishes with regional flavors. Opportunity to experience Turkish hospitality and village culture.
15:00 pm – Local Experience: Silivri Yogurt
Will visit a local dairy shop and learn about the tradition of Silivri-style yogurt, a specialty of the area. Taste and, if you wish, purchase yogurt or other local dairy products.
15:30 pm – Free Time by the Sea
Free time for optional coffee or tea at a seaside cafe enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and gentle sea breeze.
17.00 pm – Return to Istanbul
