The Sema Ceremony is a traditional spiritual ritual performed by the followers of Rumi. Through graceful whirling, music, and symbolic movements, the ceremony represents the soul’s journey toward love, unity, and spiritual perfection.

The Sema Ceremony usually lasts about 45–60 minutes, including traditional music and the full sequence of the ritual.

The Sema is a sacred spiritual ceremony, not simply a performance. It originates from the teachings of the Mevlevi Order and follows centuries-old traditions.

There is no strict dress code, but modest and respectful clothing is recommended due to the spiritual nature of the ceremony.

Photography and filming are usually not allowed during the ceremony to preserve the spiritual atmosphere. Some venues may allow photos before or after.

The ritual is recognized by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, preserving a centuries-old spiritual tradition in Türkiye.
